Every time you publish
something online, you open yourself up to potencial risks. The advantages of
the Internet can also be a problem if its users aren't careful; this means
that you have to be careful when you are surfing on the Internet and be aware
of the Internet dangers.
Who uses more the Internet than
you, the students? Nobody, and I will tell you why. We use the Internet for
hundred things, but essentiallly for school and to have fun. A major advantage
of the Internet is to help us to gather information for helping us with the
paper works for school, isn't that right? - Thanks to Wikipedia. But we use
the internet, most of the time, to communicate with friends and family,
using keyboard chatrooms, Internet telephone and video conference - Thanks to
Skype - to play games, to have access to other media such as TV channels (
Sport TV), radio stations, online newspapers and magazines and also to listen to
music and watch movies and series.
However, the Internet has its
disadvantages, that some of you don't know or just think that it is a myth, but it
is true and in some cases it is very dangerous. Some disadvantages of using the
Internet are having our personal information
stolen, getting addicted to chatrooms, gambling and pornography, losing the
opportunity to have a social life, that is an "anti-social" in our
words- , and the most serious danger of the Internet is to be a victim of cyber
crimes such as hacking, phishing, extorsion and cyber stalking.
All
things considered, I guess the Internet is a wonderful tool that makes our life
easier; however, "with great power comes higher responsabilities" so
we have to be careful when using the Internet not to hurt anyone and to protect
ourselves from others.
After this,
you know the advantages and the disadvantages, and in my opinion, you have to make
a question to yourself: "Do I still want to use the Internet?".
